As we near the one year anniversary of the wild fires that affected Sevier County and the Smoky Mountains on November 29, 2016 there are many thoughts that cross our mind. We are amazed at the strength and perseverance of our community. The kindness and generosity that was shown to our community from people all across the country will always hold a special place in our heart. Almost daily we have people come into the shop telling us that they were so relieved to find us open and to find that Gatlinburg was still standing. We have answered many text messages and phone calls checking on us, looking for reassurance that we were still open.
We want to reassure you that we ARE open for business. Gatlinburg IS still standing. After the fires many people across the country asked what they could do to help. They heeded the call. As the months have gone on Sevier County's needs are evolving. If you would like to help there are two easy yet important thing you can do. The first is to come visit our county. Come shop and explore all the amazing things that there are to do here. Shop and eat at the local businesses and restaurants. By doing this you not only help small businesses but you help the people and families that work for those businesses. Secondly, tell your friends and family that we are still standing. We want to thank you all for supporting us over the years and being part of our family. The thought that the fabric that you purchase from Mt. Stitches will be turned into a beautiful piece of art that will provide happy memories for many many years makes what we do all the more rewarding. Come see us soon! We look forward to seeing you and helping you with all your quilting needs.
