I was going to share a soup recipe but thought this quick, easy recipe might be just the thing for those busy days when you need a quick dessert. It was always a favorite in our home. The kids always liked to scrape the pan and spoon to get a taste while the cookies cooled and set up.
My youngest daughter knew these were Preacher Cookies but had trouble saying preacher. She called them Creature Cookies. One Sunday afternoon our Preacher came to dinner and she announced his arrival….”The Creature’s here!”

Preacher Cookies
2 c sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 c milk
1/2 c cocoa
2 c oatmeal
1 tsp vanilla
1 c nuts or coconut
Combine sugar, butter and milk in pan. Boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients. Beat quickly while hot and drop onto waxed paper. (Put newspaper under waxed paper)
